Design Agency Call-Out: Summer Season 2026

Design Agency Call-Out: Summer Season 2026
We’re inviting expressions of interest from Scottish-based design agencies to lead the creative campaign for our Summer Season 2026 – a bold chapter for the Theatre with the opportunity for UK and international visibility and the potential for a long-term collaboration.
This marks the start of an exciting era with new Artistic Director Alan Cumming. We’re looking for a striking, cohesive visual identity that captures the spirit of this shift – rooted in the themes:
Revisit. Revive. Reveal. (This will likely feature across the season.)
What We’re Looking For
An agency that can:
- Design a season-wide visual identity that’s bold, confident and signals change, a unified approach to the season, with individual show artworks that reflect the distinct themes of each production (approx. 10, subject to change)
- Create a distinct visual concept for each of our 2026 productions
- Producing artwork that is:
-
- Visually arresting
-
- Commercially effective
-
- Adaptable for touring and co-productions
-
- Suitable for multiple formats and flexible for animation/motion graphics
Why This Matters
This is more than a season. We’re stepping into a new era with ambition, courage, and momentum. The right agency will play a central role in shaping how we present ourselves to the world.
While our design budget is modest (as a publicly funded charity), the creative impact and visibility are significant. We hope this is the start of a longer-term creative partnership.
We’d welcome an indication of your typical fee range for a project of this scale, so we can understand how best to align expectations. Budget will be discussed with shortlisted agencies.
What to Include in Your Expression of Interest Submission
Please send us:
- A short agency introduction or bio
- 3–5 examples of relevant work (eg multi-show campaigns, seasonal identities, etc.) and/or a portfolio or showreel of work
- Your approach to:
- Developing a season-wide identity (it doesn’t matter if you’ve not worked with theatres before)
- Creating distinct but connected visuals across multiple shows
- Collaborating with internal teams and show directors
- Indicative fee range for work at this scale
- Availability – work to begin in June 2025. Initial concepts July/August. Launch materials needed for potential September on-sale.
