75th Anniversary Appeal

75 Years of Theatre in the Hills

Why Pitlochry Festival Theatre matters

Pitlochry Festival Theatre is a theatre like no other, in a place like no other. For 75 years, we have brought extraordinary stories to life – commissioned, rehearsed, designed and built on-site. We are one of the UK’s last remaining end-to-end producing theatres.

In 2026 we celebrate our milestone year and remain committed to being a Theatre for All. To achieve our ambitions, we are focusing on three goals: to CREATE outstanding live theatre, ENABLE sustainable creative careers, and SHARE the benefits of theatre with schools, young people and our communities.

How your support makes a difference

Every donation makes a difference, support us today to help us with our three priorities – create, enable, share.

CREATE outstanding live theatre

This anniversary season, we’re making our productions truly exceptional. Our landmark programme unites leading directors, designers and performers – including Tony and BAFTA-recognised artists – championing home-grown Scottish talent alongside international names. 2026 sees expanded in-house craftsmanship and ambition, every production reflects our commitment to bold, joyful and distinctive theatre.

Donate to help us –

  • Reach 100,000 people throughout 2026
  • Enlist the skills of the very best of home-grown and international talent, including Tony and BAFTA awards winners
  • Dazzle audiences, with increased investment in our sets made here in Pitlochry; ensuring the future of one of the last remaining end-to-end producing theatres.
  • Deliver our most ambitious season yet – bold, joyful and distinctive theatre.

ENABLE sustainable creative careers, and bold new writing

As we mark 75 years of theatre-making, we are also investing in the artists who will shape its future. We are expanding the opportunities for creatives to develop their work, and their careers. By committing to new commissions, increased development time, script-in-hand readings, we will give artists the space to test ideas and bring new stories to life. Additionally, by commissioning new work and supporting artists at early- and mid- career stages, we help strengthen the wider theatre sector and ensure fresh Scottish voices continue to reach audiences at home and beyond.

Donate to help us –

  • Provide invaluable development time for artists to take creative risks
  • Commit to funding new commissions bringing original Scottish stories to life for the first time
  • Support writers, directors and theatre-makers at the stages of their career where it matters most through informal mentoring to structured apprenticeship programmes
  • Strengthening the wider theatre sector – one artist and story at a time

SHARE the benefits of theatre with our communities

Theatre should belong to everyone. Our engagement programmes bring creative opportunities to communities across Highland Perthshire and beyond.

Through our young people and schools programmes, we introduce theatre through workshops, performances and creative play – often providing these young people with their first experience of live performance, offered for free or low cost. Community participation is central to our work, from large-scale productions involving local people to informal gatherings, outdoor events and shared experiences. Together, these activities celebrate the communities who have shaped the Theatre over the past 75 years and ensure it remains a true Theatre for All.

Donate to help us –

  • Introduce hundreds of children to live performance – for many, their very first experience of theatre
  • Deliver a year-round programme of workshops to support early years to young adults with theatre provision, including a relaunched youth theatre
  • Invite 75 community members to take part in 2026’s Community Stages, a day of professionally led theatre workshops culminating in a performance
  • Host events throughout our anniversary year to bring together our community, and the theatre’s place in that, such as Picnics in the Park an intergenerational opportunity to come together.
